Takedown Policy

Last updated: 30 April 2026 · Version 1.0 · Applies to all content hosted at ilmi.ma

ILMI is a study platform where university students upload course materials — lecture slides, handouts, past exams, and their own notes — to use as source material for AI-assisted study. We take intellectual property rights seriously and have designed a simple, fast takedown process for professors, institutions, and rights-holders.

The short version: If you're a professor and you don't want your slides on ILMI, email legal@ilmi.ma. We'll remove the file within 48 hours, no questions asked.

1. Who can submit a takedown request

Any of the following may submit a takedown request:

  • Professors or instructors whose lecture materials, slides, handouts, or exams have been uploaded without their permission or contrary to their wishes
  • Universities or academic institutions whose institutional materials appear on the platform
  • Publishers or authors whose copyrighted books, textbooks, or other works have been uploaded in violation of copyright law
  • Any rights-holder or their authorized representative

2. What we will remove

We will remove any file that:

  • A professor requests be removed from the platform, regardless of whether it was legitimately distributed to students
  • Infringes copyright under Moroccan law (loi 2-00 relative aux droits d'auteur et droits voisins) or applicable international law
  • Contains confidential material marked "do not distribute" or equivalent
  • Was uploaded without authorization by an authorized representative of the rights-holder

We do not require you to prove infringement in court. A credible request from the rights-holder is sufficient for removal.

3. How to submit a request

Email legal@ilmi.ma with the subject line: "Takedown Request — [your name / institution]"

Include the following in your email:

  • Your identity: Your full name, institutional affiliation (if applicable), and contact email
  • Description of the material: Name or description of the file(s) you want removed (e.g., "Lecture slides from my Syntax course, S6 2024/25")
  • Your rights claim: A brief statement explaining why you have the right to request removal (e.g., "I am the professor who created these slides" or "I am the copyright holder of this textbook")
  • Good-faith statement: A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the material is being used without authorization
  • Accuracy statement: A statement that the information in your request is accurate, under penalty of perjury or equivalent

You do not need to know the exact URL or file ID — a description is enough. We will search and identify the material.

4. Our response process

Acknowledgement
Within 24 hours of receiving your request
Removal
Within 48 hours of confirming the request is valid
Notification
We notify the student who uploaded the file that it was removed and why (without sharing your personal details unless legally required)
Confirmation
We send you confirmation once the file is deleted from storage

If the request is ambiguous or we cannot identify the file from your description, we will reply asking for clarification. The 48-hour clock starts from when we have enough information to act.

5. What happens to the uploader

When we remove a file following a takedown request, we:

  • Delete the file and its associated text chunks from our database
  • Notify the student who uploaded it, citing our Terms of Service section 3
  • Record the takedown for internal compliance
  • For repeat violations, we may restrict or terminate the student's account

We do not share the uploader's identity or personal data with the requesting party unless compelled to do so by a court or law enforcement authority under Moroccan law.

6. Counter-notification

If you are a student and believe your file was removed in error — for example, because it consists entirely of your own original notes — you may submit a counter-notification to legal@ilmi.ma with the subject line: "Counter-Notification — [your name]".

Include:

  • A description of the removed file
  • Your explanation of why you believe removal was in error (e.g., "These are my personal notes, not the professor's slides")
  • A statement that the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge

We review counter-notifications within 5 business days and may restore the file if the counter-notification is credible and the original requestor does not object within that window.

7. Abuse of the takedown process

Submitting a knowingly false takedown request is a misuse of this process and may constitute a violation of applicable law. We reserve the right to disregard requests that appear to be made in bad faith.

8. Scope — what this policy does NOT cover

This policy covers files stored on ILMI's servers. It does not apply to:

  • AI-generated text (explanations, quizzes, summaries) produced by ILMI — these are generated dynamically and are not stored as files
  • Content that ILMI itself has published (our own web pages, marketing copy)
  • External links to other websites
